Love Is The Answer

Mark R. Elsis

An environmentalist, filmmaker, poet, web entrepreneur / developer and writer,
here to protect our future generations.

You're An Irish Poet

by Mark R. Elsis

I was driving my taxi in Manhattan on a beautiful Summer evening in 1981 when a man flagged me down. I stopped, and a woman and man of about 60 years of age entered.

As soon as they were seated, the first thing the man said to me, with an Irish brogue, you're an Irish poet. I turned around and with some astonishment said; yes I am an Irish poet, both of my maternal grandparents were born in Ireland and my paternal lineage is also mostly Irish.

I then asked, how did you know within an instant that I was an Irish poet?

He politely introduced his wife Gráinne Yeats and himself, Michael Yeats.

He then said I'm the son of William Butler Yeats.

William Butler Yeats was an Irish poet and playwright. He was one of the foremost figures of 20th-century literature. In 1923 Yeats won the Nobel Prize in literature.

Yeats is one of the few writers whose greatest works were written after the award of the Nobel Prize. Whereas he received the Prize chiefly for his dramatic works as a playwright, his significance today rests on his poetic achievement.

Not one other person in my life has told me, you're an Irish poet.

I would tell others that I was an Irish poet here to save our species from extinction.
Within moments of John Denver entering my taxi he asked me, who are you, Mark?
My answer was, I'm an Irish poet here to save our species from extinction.

I've always found it most interesting that the first thing that the son of William Butler Yeats, the greatest poet of the twentieth century said to me was, you're an Irish poet.

I've come to the conclusion that when seemingly unbelievable occurrences like this happen, you know you're in the correct time and space and doing the right thing in life.

“The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere the ceremony of innocence is drowned; the best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity.”

William Butler Yeats

This meeting is from a book I have been writing, Meetings and Stories, about all of my meetings with prominent people, and my many fascinating and wondrous stories.

A few of my Meetings and Stories are online, they include:
Michael Jackson, The Genesis Of Beat It
John Denver, Love Is Why I Came Here In The First Place
Robin Williams, My Two Meetings With Robin

This first poem was my 910th, and the last poem I wrote.

It was to my dear friend Aireal, who I still know and love.

Bless You Aireal

Trust and honesty

Being your best

Friendship and beauty

Love takes care of the rest

Bless you Aireal

For the woman you are

I think of you fondly

From so near and yet afar

Smell The Roses

In this hurried up

To make money society

With television constantly

Enslaving you to consume

Try to often stop

And smell the roses quietly

With mediation and exercise
Daily to keep one in tune

The Window Of Opportunity

The window of opportunity

Is staring us squarely in the face

Begging us to form a unity

Before we fall from nature's grace

by Mark R. Elsis

Sweet Intricate Beauty

Goodbye forever to you

Sweet intricate beauty

Goodbye to all we knew

My White Rhino beauty

Goodbye to fine details

In the superstring soup

Goodbye to friend chaos

No butterflies in the loop

Goodbye forever to you

Sweet intricate beauty

Goodbye it can't be true

Humanity has failed its duty

by Mark R. Elsis

The Worst Of All Our Atrocities

To damage nature the way we are

Is the worst of all our atrocities

To ransack her from near and far

Forever diminishes our perpetuation

We have but a small yet significant role

In the intricate interdependence of all things

Living a sustainable life with congruity the goal

And a love of the diversity that all life brings

Will stop this damage toward nature that we do

With the worst of all our atrocities finally ending

But until that day comes all I can say to you

Is that nature is dying when it needs to be mending

by Mark R. Elsis

The Obedient Masses

They do just what they're told

They are the obedient masses

It doesn't matter what's being sold

Just stay in your station, caste, classes

And now as the world is going to hell

They still have little to no concern

Their souls to the devil they gladly sell

Will the obedient masses ever learn

They have the power within themselves

To change the course of history

by Mark R. Elsis

Our Responsibilities

Dereliction of our earthly stewardship

In almost every way that is conceivable

Our responsibilities long ago we let slip

The utter stupidity of man is unbelievable

Build your weapons and let millions starve

Have your religion and plunder the resources

Take every rainforest to cut up and carve

Follow the leaders blindly until your losses

Are no more

by Mark R. Elsis

November 25, 1996

Complexity

Complexity far beyond our imagination

Yet we arrogantly go about our merry way

Diversity being felled in one generation

Never again to see the light of a bright new day

The intricacy of all living beings on one another

We know so little about and don't seem to care

Variety being extinguished to put out and smother

For future generations there will be nothing to share

by Mark R. Elsis

Our Rightful Place

Amongst the abundance

For which nature provides

Our rightful place

Is when harmony arrives

With all life on Earth

by Mark R. Elsis

November 19, 1996

A New Ethic Of Caring

A new ethic of caring

For all life on Earth is needed

A humane way of sharing

Where reverence for all life is treated

A new ethic of caring

Must now form quickly from you and me

For the web of life is tearing

Apart much faster then anyone is willing to see

A new ethic of caring

Or our species will be taken care of

From bad to worse will go our faring

Till in the end there was no more love

by Mark R. Elsis

November 18, 1996

Tinkering With Divine Creation

Playing with deadly radiation

Like a bunch of babbling babies

Tinkering with divine creation

Never caring about all the maybes

Trying to genetically engineer life

While your own species goes extinct

Lying to hide all inequitable strife

When to Earth you are forever linked

by Mark R. Elsis

November 11, 1996

Keeping The Status Quo Alive

Keeping the status quo alive

In the face of certain annihilation

A masterful job where PR firms strive

And a dumbing down of education

Keeping the status quo alive

In the face of certain annihilation

The place media conglomerates strive

And all Hollywood produces obfuscation

Keeping the status quo alive

In the face of certain annihilation

The part for politicians so desperately strive

A government act of incautious deliberation

by Mark R. Elsis

Consume Less

Running from here to there

And then back again and again

For this that and all the other

Silly useless and wasteful things

We no longer are looking to share

Like we did way back when

Almost everyone helped one another

Lost is the happiness this brings

Open yourself try voluntary simplicity

Learning to consume less is so freeing

Show the corporations no complicity

Slow down enough to just enjoy being

by Mark R. Elsis

November 9, 1996

A Unity Of One Percent

A unity of one percent

Who revere all life on Earth as dear

Must begin to form today

If there's any wish for survival here

A unity of one percent

Resonates when thinking as one

Causing a critical mass

Where sustainability will become

Upon all future generations

by Mark R. Elsis

November 6, 1996

The Master's Biddings

Corruption pervasively

Embedded throughout the land

The master's biddings

Woven into the fabric of our lives

Eradication perversely

Unending on a scale so grand

The billion starving babies

During my life's dying cries

Apathy prevailing

The conditioned sheep are all around

The master's biddings

Are now done without a thought or sound

by Mark R. Elsis

The Weight Of The World

I want to see the majesty

I want to sense the wonder

I want to avert the tragedy

I want to stop the blunder

The weight of the world

The time running out

The hate constantly unfurled

The crime of silence all about

by Mark R. Elsis

Once Filled With Hope

I try to find hope

But there is none to be found

It is getting harder to cope

With the devastation all around

I try to find hope

But I'm disappointed every time

I'm at the end of my rope

Waiting for humanity to pay for its crime

I try to find hope

But it is irreversibly too late

I was once filled with hope

But now I know that which is to be our fate

by Mark R. Elsis

Don't Worry

Don't worry about overpopulation

Don't worry about all the pollution

Don't worry about deforestation

Don't worry about a sustainable solution

Don't worry about global warming

Don't worry about the ozone hole

Don't worry about new viruses forming

Don't worry about the kids future we stole

Don't worry about nuclear weapons or power

Don't worry about pesticides in your food

Don't worry about the 4000 kids starving to death each hour

Don't worry about the TV being stupid and crude

Don't worry about fish stocks declining

Don't worry about corrosive acid rain

Don't worry about all the strip mining

Don't worry about the slaughtered animals pain

Don't worry about the 265 billion for defense

Don't worry about total corporate power

Don't worry about the loss of common sense

Don't worry about chlorine in your shower

Don't worry about grain yields diminishing

Don't worry about cancer rates rising

Don't worry about another species finishing

Don't worry about your company downsizing

Don't worry about recycling your trash

Don't worry about genetic engineering

Don't worry about it ending in a flash

Don't worry about anything you're fearing

Because our complete devastation of all life is now irreversible

Blinded

Blinded by greed

Blinded by ambition

Too deaf to heed

A slave to submission

Distractions

Keep watching those screens

Filling you up with useless information

There is no need for your dreams

We just want a homogenous civilization

Distractions everywhere you turn

So you're caught up in the game

Distractions maybe someday you'll learn

Are only here to keep us all the same

Trivial Matters

Wasting our time with distracting

Trivial matters

While our Earth is being decimated

In our lifetime

In front of our eyes

When there is nothing more important

For humanity to do

Then to face this atrocity

And deal with it with all our energies

But no not us

We'd rather be

Wasting our time with distracting

Trivial matters

The Last Song

Singing and singing

For a mate

But there are no mates

To be found

The last of his kind

But he keeps on singing

I wonder if he knows

How beautiful he sings

The last song

by Mark R. Elsis

Beauty

Beauty is vanishing at an alarming rate

Man is in a hurry he just can't wait

The Sea Empress let go of her oil there mate

In a marine sanctuary now isn't that great

Double-hulled tankers once more too late

Now the coast of Wales is in a slippery state

What we want we get that is our fate

Beauty is vanishing at an alarming rate

Time Stood Still For Me

As soon as I saw

You and your dad

Your first step down that aisle

Something beyond beauty you had

Time stood still for me

For I'd never had seen

Here comes my wife to be

A miracle vision I did deem

Start To Care Now

The situation is critical

Time is of the essence

The answer is not political

Each day gone by lessens

Our very survival here

What we can do

Is up to you and me

We can save ourselves

If we want it to be

Where our grandchildren

Can laugh and play

Start to care now

Please don't turn away

It starts in you

It starts in me

Help restore our Earth

So future generations can be

I stare at your picture

The Greatest Of Ease

The words use to come together

With the greatest of ease

I thought it would last forever

Until one day when the pen in my hand did freeze

Not a clever phrase it would write

I did not know what was wrong

Emptiness and anguish I was not whole

Bitterness and self-doubt took their toll

Now three years have past

But during my drought I've asked

Friends and strangers for answers

It's just a phase it won't last

My poems were to awaken all humankind

To open our souls and help us find

A new understanding while there's still time

For our raping of nature is the last crime

I Still Imagine

In first grade

My president was blown away

I wondered why

In fifth grade

Martin and Robert were filled with lead

I began to understand

In the summer before high school

Morrison was in French soil

But no one was there

I became scared

For John

The warmest 8th of December

In New York City history

I was driving my cab

When Vinny broke the news

From that day till now

At 29

Every time I pass 1 West 72nd Street

I feel humanity

Has no hope

But I still imagine

The Atomic Hump

Five evolutions to get it right

And here we go again

Constantly in conflict and fight

I think it's time to say when

Enough is enough

I'm bored of the game

Drop the act of being tough

Finally realize we're all the same

I call it the atomic hump

The make or break time

Flourish on Earth as one

Or pay for the ultimate crime

Perplexed In The Riddle

Knowing too much but

Groomed Puppets That Deceive

How clever the manipulation

In this land of the free

How money breeds dedication

In the name of liberty

With political promising lies

So you give up hope

Believing it will never change

With hunger, disease and pollution

You give only your apology

Because you think there's no solution

But not many show

Any concern to lend

Scared of the truth

You don't want to believe

Cornered in your booth

It's only yourself you deceive

Let's fight for survival

While there's still a chance

Only a worldwide revival

Peaceably showing our stance

Could lead us away

From the certain destruction

The rulers of today

Are killing us by corruption

Living Beyond Our Means

Living beyond our means

Busting at our seams

Yet still we want more

Playing do or die

The excitement of the try

Will soon kill us for sure

Impossible Odds

Impossible odds

Is what we're facing

A world of hate

Till the end we're racing

Fighting over our paradise

Just Infants Being Bold

Just one hundred years ago

We were still on horses

Little did we know

The industrial age loses

Would wipe us out

Cause we could not control

No technological doubt

Just infants being bold

The Dreamers Are Dreaming

The preachers are preaching

It's almost the end

The dreamers are dreaming

Of a planet Earth when

The masses aren't apathetic

Drugged just getting by

The situations pathetic

So why give it a try

Drifting Aimlessly

When the truth is a lie

You finally found

Searching shamelessly

Let's Join Our Hands

You damn well know

How bad it's got

But still you don't show

You'd rather burn out and rot

Let's join our hands

And not give in

And together we can win

You Just Can't Admit It

You don't want to hear it

Cause deep down it scares you

You just can't admit it

That our years left are so few

So you lead your life fast

In hopes to pack it all in

And maybe somehow it will last

Long enough for you to have been

Through all the scenes till they bore

The drugs the sex the always wanting more

Just copping out that's for sure

When we could still save our rotting core

Somehow Succeed

Are we scared

Because we don't know

Are we paired

So conflict will grow

Are we bred

To learn to conform

Are we led

To kill and mourn

Will life cease

Because of greed

Or will peace

Somehow succeed

It's up to you

It's up to me

To change ourselves

To somehow see

by Mark R. Elsis

Somehow Succeed inspired Michael Jackson to create Beat It.

The single Beat It, along with its music video, propelled Thriller into becoming the best-selling album of all time. The happenstance of Michael Jackson and I meeting that night in AM-PM, created a miracle to make the world a better place.

This brings a smile to my face and joy to my heart, every day of my life.

From One Another

It's all stealing

From one another

Sell with feeling

Beat your brother

Get rich quick

While humans starve

You're fucking sick

But still you carve

Strip-till it's bare

No more tomorrows

For children to share

There will only be sorrows

Government Sponsored

There's no way out

Unless you care

I can scream and shout

About what ain't fair

But you've got to change

From deep inside

Brought up fast and strange

Don't run and hide

From the troubled day

By taking drugs

To escape the pain

It's a cover-up

To keep us down

Government sponsored

Every pound

The Tears Did Shed

(Billy's Funeral November 28, 1980)

Will it get better

Will it get worse

There's rainy weather

With a black hearse

The tears did shed

While not believing

A word you said

So much grieving

Did leave me numb

And memories ago

Kept filtering through

Of a time when no

It can not be

Ever again

Extinct Is Forever

Man is the enemy

Technology the tool

Extinct is forever

Don't be a fool

An expose the greedy

Cold hearted liar

Our Love

(For Ingrid)

I want to live with you

And make you smile each day

I want to grow with you

And make love every way

I want to share our time

Cause together we are one

Mine is yours and yours is mine

Our dream together can be done

To share the sunsets

And gaze at the full moons

To have no regrets

Or hidden forever wounds

To trust and inspire

To dream and create

To want and desire

That which is our fate

Throw In The Towel

Mutated freaks

Toxic shock

Agent orange

Government mock

Goes on and on

Nuclear waste

Leukemia rate

Technology haste

Is our fate

Throw in the towel

And wave good-bye

Oil spills

Nerve gas seeps

Man kills

Together To Better

You can sit back

And let it go on

Take a kickback

And fall for the con

Look the other way

Hear but don't listen

All I'm trying to say

Is common sense is missing

How can we let

Ourselves be fooled

Why don't we get

Our energies pooled

Together to better

And stop being ruled

By corrupt politicians

Leading us down

Lose your inhibitions

And gather around

For unity is strength

And strength we need

To shorten the length

Between poverty and greed

To stop the pollution

And worldwide hunger

There's an easy solution

That you've sometimes wondered

If we all get together

Throughout the world

We could live forever

The way you know it should be

Another Try On The Town

(Manhattan)

Have a toke of grass

Have a tote of coke

Have liquor in a glass

Have another smoke

Go out and dance

In your new fashion

Search for romance

You need some passion

Get high come down

Another try on the town

Searching in circles

Going nowhere fast

Living in a dream

But it won't last

You're soon to get bored

It's not like it was

Just the same old chord

As the new club opens

And you got to check it out

Lost Logic

Lost logic

Lost morals

Lost values

Only sorrows

Family decay

Gone array

Nothing to say

About the way

Our lives are leading

Don't stand up

For what is right

Just give up

Without a fight

A bunch of losers

Who'll stay that way

Just bar room boozers

Who can't see the day

Sometimes I Wish

Sometimes I wish

I didn't know what I knew

Sometimes I wish

I didn't care but I do

And it hurts to see

The apathy around

Everybody out for me

Well I think we're bound

For self-destruction

Unless there's to be found

The logical deduction

Of caring now

For preservation but

I don't see how

With the road we're choosing

Industrialed ruin

Industrailed ruin

With workers embedded

Industrialed ruin

Listen To Reason

How long are you gonna take it

How can you just sit back

How long are you gonna fake it

Before you get on the right track

We're living real high

We're stripping the land

I don't know why

We let it get out of hand

So take a realistic view

You'll see it can't go on

We need an optimistic new

Or certain death from the great con

Survival is the basic instinct

Yet we're burning out so fast

Suicide will make us extinct

The raping of nature won't last

So how long you gonna be fooled

By the great con being played

How long you gonna be ruled

Blinded by the money you're being paid

Listen to reason

I beg of you

The final treason

Is up to you

Listen to reason

I beg of you

The final treason

Is up to you

Foresight Is Cheap

It's come so quick

It's hard to tell

In just a flick

We've emptied the well

Foresight is cheap

When it's too late

Still wanting the bait

Computer malfunction

Warning overload

Drastic measures needed

In order to continue

We must all realize this is it

We must change

In order to exist

Ignorant Innocence

Pollute the water

Pollute the air

Shoot the mortar

Cause it's there

Radiation leaking

You don't know

Nerve gas seeping

Let it flow

A million a minute

But you want more

To make killing arms

To die in a war

Ignorant innocence

Blind ambition

You've lost your way

Final submission

Rape the Earth

Suck the blood

Take the worth

Lick the mud

If it isn't nailed down

They'll take it

They found the hammer

And did

Gates Of Heaven

A warm December night

I passed by the Dakota

Sunroof open barely creeping

An hour before the end

I saw a shadow

Lurked in the darkness

I thought security

Because of the article

How many times

I've passed before

Those iron gates

Can I cry once more

Since I was five

I've heard the words

Now only vinyl

Is left to hear

by Mark R. Elsis

February 6, 1981

It was 11:45 pm on December 8, 1980, when I arrived at the Dakota and already there was large group of people mourning. I double parked my Peugeot 504 taxi just about 25 feet West of the gates, in front of the Dakota. Then I opened the sunroof and placed a portable speaker on the roof, so people could hear WNEW FM live. Soon hundreds of people had gathered. Throughout the night thousands arrived, mourned and left.

I stayed in front of the Dakota for the next nine hours. These nine hours were the catalyst that transformed my life. I swore on John's blood that I would do everything I possibly could to enlighten humanity and make our world better for future generations.

Strawberry Fields (Assassination Sequence)

Try And Bring A Halt

We've advanced so far

In too few years

The masses in a jar

Not knowing the fears

They're playing with fire

Like babies with a match

Always shooting for higher

When they don't know the catch

We've got to slow down

And play it safe

Put our feet on the ground

Before it's too late

One button and it's gone

No time to blink

They couldn't back down

No time to think

We let it go on

It's all our fault

Look the other way

Or try and bring a halt

You And Yours Are Fine

We're living in confused times

We're on that fine line

We're hanging by a thread

Always increasing crime

But you and yours are fine

Still struggling to stay ahead

The competitions rough

But your hard-nosed and tough

Yet you sink like lead

You don't know what to do

They've gotten the best of you

Believing the lies you've read

by Mark R. Elsis

Why Are We Here

Why are we here

What is it all about

Each day there's a new fear

Always living in doubt

Cause tomorrow may not come

And today may be the end

Through the selfishness of some

Who will break before they bend

And day after day

We let it go by

Living it their way

Too lazy to try

While deep down you know

It's going from bad to worse

As the mounting problems grow

Like a balloon ready to burst

So don't hide what you feel

Cause this is the last call

And I'm telling you for real

Together we can avoid the fall

And make a new world

The way it should be

One government for all

United and free

To carry on forever

In tune with nature

Knowing that together

We can make it real

Why Are We Here

Is Dedicated To My Friend Billy Who Died Today

(After This Was Written)

Thank For What Is Ours

I drove down to the ocean

That cold and windy night

I walked along the beach

Until it was nearly light

I thought about so much

Watching the waves and stars

I just wanted to reach out and touch

And thank for what is ours

Who's Fooling Who

When you just don't care

And see through the lies

When you know it ain't fair

Yet you don't even criticize

You're just as wrong

Being weak an accepting

Giving into the strong

Who think they're deceiving

But who's fooling who

And who'll laugh last

When in the end you knew

What you've learned in the past

Terminal Trend

The plot is thickening

The stage is set

A rude awakening

Is a safe bet

Cause the time has come

When chaos must end

And realize that some

Are selling a terminal trend

They don't give a shit

Or care for tomorrow

As long they hit

Home with no sorrow

Our Backs Are To The Wall

You think it's lies

But it's the truth

There's no disguise

We're living proof

So realize now

How bad it's got

And understand how

There's still a shot

To save the Earth

From the modern way

That strips its worth

Only concerned with today

The change must come

From you and me

Stop living on the run

And then you'll see

The pace we've kept

Would kill us all

And already we've slept

Our backs are to the wall

Which Road To Walk

We're on the threshold

We're at the fork

We're at the point

Which road to walk

Destiny is ours

In what we choose

Everything rides

It's either win or lose

The stakes are high

It's the last chance

To either live or die

It's in our hands

The change we need

Is plain to see

No more greed

And then we'll be

Working together

For the future

Rest assured

We carry on

What You Already Knew

The signs are all over

But you choose to ignore them

Can't face up to reality

Scared of the day when

Our greed catches up

And there's no avoiding

Cause we're self-destructing

And not even caring

What I'm saying is

We've got the choice

What I'm hoping is

You hear my voice

And become aware

Before it's too late

We all must care

Cause it's all our fate

There's only one way

We'll make it through

You got to realize today

What you already knew

Share Its Beauty

We waste so much

We let it go by

We're so out of touch

Cause we don't even try

To live in this world

And share its beauty

Or look for the future

Perpetuation is our duty

Realize it or don't want to

But it's only getting worse

And the longer you ignore it

As If By Divine Plan

Take some time

And think about this

Listen real careful

Cause there's no time to miss

It's getting beyond reach

It's gotten out of hand

The power hungry preach

As if by divine plan

And you don't know

Or just let it go by

And you're always on the go

But always asking why

They drain your life

Squeeze every last drop

Tell you of freedom

When looking from the top

A Vicious Circle

Drug Us All

Drugs here

Drugs there

There's always something

To rid your care

It never stops

It's always there

A constant crutch

From the burden you share

Keep us down

Drug us all

Not a sound

Until the fall

Fuck it all

Cause you don't care

You've given up

You've dropped your share

Sold out to drugs

Your everyday fix

Easing your mind

Of the everyday tricks

For Patti

I'm home from the Ritz

And still thinking of you

Whether it's lust or kicks

I only wish I knew

But I love the feeling

And have to see you again

Cause the attraction your dealing

Makes me want a winning hand

From your purple clothes

To your three earring earlobe

And your deep golden skin

You've caught my eye

And something keeps telling me

Not to let you slip by

So I'm writing these words

To grab your attention

Tell you of my feelings

To convey my affection

Wanting Another Try

We've got the choice

And I think it's time

To show our voice

Cause it's such a crime

Living and knowing

Of all the wrong

Yet never even showing

What we feel so strong

So let's not sit back

And just let it go by

Cause we're on the wrong track

Headed for an early good-bye

So get up an say

That we need a switch

We want a new way

We want it real quick

They're ruining it all

They're ruining it fast

Making me hope each day

That it won't be my last

With their pollution and guns

And their greed and neglect

Nuclear power when we have the sun

And all their drugs to keep us wrecked

Don't you see through it

They're just out for today

They couldn't give a shit

About doing it the right way

So let's not sit back

And just let it go by

Finally realizing too late

And wanting another try

by Mark R. Elsis

Test Subjects

We are the test subjects

We are the dying breed

We are the last checks

Here to balance the greed

An awaken you all

So we can plant a new seed

Knock down the wall

That strangles you like a weed

We are here to change

Extinction to perpetuation

Get rid of the strange

Leading us to devastation

It's all up to us

To want a new day

With us you can trust

We won't lead you astray

What's best for all

Is the way it will be

Knock down the wall

For unity is the key

And it won't be easy

Cause they're set in their way

Molded in the cast

Until their dying day

Which won't be long

So we have no time to waste

We've already been led along

So now we have to haste

And think for tomorrow

Forget about yesterday

It will only bring you sorrow

And happiness is the only way

by Mark R. Elsis

Forever In Harmony

It's make-or-break

One more time

Will we cover ourselves

In our prime

Or learn to live

As meant to be

Back with nature

Forever in harmony

Which we choose

Is up to us

Either we fuse

Or forever rust

But now's the time

To make the choice

And only together we'll find

They'll hear our voice

To make the changes

That has to be

For us to live

Forever in harmony

It's Not Too Late

The Earth has cancer

We can't let grow

And I've got the answer

But don't we all know

We need to get together

To live as one

Share the Earth forever

With the energy of the sun

And it's not too late

But we must start now

If not our fate

You will allow

So please understand

We have to stop the hate

And live in a land

Loving your fellow mate

Where pollution is no more

And hunger does not exist

Cause population had a law

Enabling all of this

And it's not too late

But we must start now

If not our fate

You will allow

So wake up to all the wrong

And see the light

Don't let the manipulating strong

Take away what's right

Cause their foresight is blind

In living for today

Their contracts were signed

With no need for delay

It's just the same old game

With the played out scenes

A merry-go-round with in-betweens

Got to break out and getaway

Or the conditioning ties will stay

Trapping you till tomorrow's today

Becomes a bitter memory of yesterday

Waiting For You

Sitting here waiting for you

Looking around with nothing to do

Read the Times so I'll write some more

Waiting for you to walk through the door

Another flight empties out

People walk little kids shout

Potbellied men in their leisure suits

Long haired youths with t-shirts of no-nukes

Fashionable girls dragging their bags

While the country boys dressed in rags

Look aimlessly at the jet set fags

While time keeps passing by

As another pretty young girl catches my eye

Some Way

As the rain washes in dawn

And the television has nothing more to say

Cause love never felt better

While being in the arms of you

And now all I can do is remember

Those precious loving days so few

My Bottom Draw

Opening my bottom draw

I take it out and lay it on the floor

Wanting to see old photographs of you

To help me remember things I once knew

But the perfume on your cards fills the air

As I write to you at this moment so rare

You're soon to be twenty and it just seems fair

To let you know that I still care

And want for you all that's there

So take this new decade for all its got

Go out there and give it your best shot
